While normally not required, embedding the color profile can help third-party display apps such as web browsers correctly render your image. Under most circumstances, color management is an optional feature. However, there will be times when Affinity Photo will require it.
The reasons will vary depending on the situation, but most revolve trying to access a function that requires a color space. The problem pops up when you try to use a color-modifying tool such as Develop without an active layer. Because there are no active layers, Affinity Photo does not know what to open. So, it flags the incident as an error.
To fix the problem, you just select the layer you want to edit. These situations arise from what many people consider a bug in the software. Some Affinity Photo functions create temporary layers as a part of their operations but leave the layers unselected. Some tools may even deselect other layers in the process. Currently im struggling to achieve similar good result like in PS.
Yes, I know, but the result is far away from PS, especially it’s not possible to add sampled colors. Affinity Photo 1. The color range is very powerful. I hope that affinity photo will join this feature later. Have you had any luck figuring this out? I’d love this to work, even if it’s a work-around.
Sorry Roman, I didn’t find a workaround for that. Well, I still hope Serif will add a similar feature in the near future There IS a workaround however I add my voice to getting a colour range selection tool too as I know that Serif would make an awesome one. When you have a good ‘selection’ change this layers blending mode to Difference. You should then end up with a black and white image which you can use as a mask for your image. I know, I know, a fairly convoluted process for something which would be great if it were built-in so hopefully Serif will add something like this in the future.

Ya that feaure would be really helpful to make color based selected with more precise control. The Color Replacement Brush Tool replaces one color with another at your choice without affecting the details.
As a result, you preserve highlights and shadows. The Color Replacement Brush Tool is useful when you have to do selective adjustments on relatively small areas of an image. When you select the tool, its parameters appear at the top of the screen. As with all brushes, start with a set of parameters and make changes along the way. Select the color you want to replace by pressing the Alt key and clicking on a pixel with the right color.
Then select the new color from the Color tab in the Studio panel. Give yourself time to examine the results, zoom in, and change settings if necessary.
Then choose the image you want to edit. Zoom in and pan until you have the area you want to change in the center of the screen and as large as possible. The width of the brush should be smaller than the area you want to recolor and large enough to save you time.

I generally liked using it, but found the clicking these tedious. Found out I couldn’t use the beta as a trial member, so I bought the software and can attest that this feature is necessary and awesome. Looking forward to get this update!! This feature is so needed. I can see that it’s finally in beta. Thanks affinity. Very happy to hear about the Select Same addition in the upcoming update. Keep up the good work Affinity, so we can keep making our work even better! Not sure if what I’m asking is the same – but I have an object of some particular color say a car.
Why encourage people not to use it in one sentence and then state perhaps one day features will be implemented. It seems to be in your best interest to pitch AD since it makes you smile. Thank you Alfred , will give it a try! It is now I’ve seen the requests for “select same colour” many years, and the fact that Affinity is working on it. I use this feature constantly, as I “recolour” individual colors in an image.
Are they any closer to having this done? I spend so much time trying to find these, what seems to be, simple tasks, to no avail. It’s very frustrating.

You just select your desired color and use it in conjunction with your favorite editing tools. However, it can get quite complex if you must recolor multiple unconnected pixels such as when setting transparency.
Then, you may want to select an individual pixel layer. Color profiles are how the editor defines how colors function. You can use them and other color management tools to highlight and edit pixels of a particular RGB color. Affinity Photo may also ask you to select an RGB layer when switching to one of its modes.
By reading further, you will learn when these flags occur and how to ensure you always have an RGB layer selected. In most cases, using color in Affinity Photo is simple. You just import your photos, select your favorite tool, and color, and go to work. You rarely need to consider the color space or the other color management options available to you. You only really deal with the advanced color controls if you must change the working color space.
